Thermal Curtain and Thermal Lined Curtains

A Thermal Curtain and thermal lined curtains help to either retain the heat in the room during winter or keep the room cool during the hot summer months. These curtains have an extra thick lining behind the fabric to block outside light and to help insulate the window area. The thermal curtains actual do quite a good job of stopping the outside temperature from seeping into the room.

A thermal lined curtain looks the same as a normal window curtain, you can still buy the large range of materials and colors that are available for the normal curtains. They also look the same and of course feel the same. You can still get all the different types such as grommet tops, tab tops, long drapes, and standard curtains. The only difference is that they have this thermal lining at the back, which faces outwards towards to the window.

Another great benefit of owning a thermal curtain, apart from the obvious, is that they can also be used as a blackout curtain. Essentially this means that you are able to stop outside light from entering the room. This is great for bedrooms where some people need the room to be as dark as possible in order to get some sleep. If your bedroom is right next to a bright street light for instance, these curtains can block out the light. Another example would be if you get the morning sunlight directly onto your bedroom window. The blackout thermal curtains can block out that light so that you can at least sleep in on the weekends.

If you are looking for blinds, rather than the standard curtains, you can also buy blackout blinds. These window treatments also do a good job at filtering out the light from outside. They won't provide the same type of thermal functionality you may be looking for though. An alternative solution for you could be to purchase thermal lining and have that behind the blinds. The thermal lining would take the place of having curtain netting.

Once last solution, if you really would like to have blinds, but also require the insulation. You can have the blinds behind the thermal curtain. So, you can have the curtains open during the day to show off the blinds, and in the evening you can have the curtains closed. The blinds would have to be inset into the window to allow them to be opened easily.

One last tip is to make sure that your measurements are 100% correct. It is recommended that you measure your window area, and then measure it again. If you are unsure, it is helpful to have an online website that allows for refunds, just incase you do get the measurements wrong.
