With colder weather starting to reach
some of our homes and hot weather in other parts of the
country, we begin to think about ways to keep our homes warmer
or cooler. Most of these added home improvements will help us
to save on our heating and cooling bills. An excellent source
of improving the comfort in our homes are window
coverings.
Thermal curtain
panels are one
of the best ways to keep the cold or heat out of our homes,
depending on what climate you live in. These thermal curtains
are available in many different fabrics and colors and are
often sold by panel prices or probably more often sold by the
pair.
At the lower end of the cost spectrum,
the cheap curtain panels range from $12.99 to $29.99 per panel
or in some stores per pair. Then at the higher end of the cost
spectrum, modern curtain panels may be about $21.99 to $89.99.
Some of these thermal draperies come with a blackout curtain
lining that keeps out all outside light. There are also thermal
insulated drapes that are called ‘hotel weight insulated
curtains', with an insulated durable foam back lining. These
are more of a cotton-look fabric made to last and recommended
for motels and hotels.
There are also thermal backed
iridescent type curtains in pairs that will nicely update your
home décor and are designed in faux silk fabric. These thermal
curtain panels have a rod pocket for easy hanging from a
decorative rod. The foam backed lining blocks sunlight and
lowers energy costs. As with most thermal insulated drapes,
they are available in 63-inch and 84-inch lengths for a set of
two and each panel is 52-inches wide.

Another product called ‘energy saver
panels’ can be used behind existing standard curtains,
changeable curtain panels or drapes are great as an additional
energy-saving concept. These are actually liners that help to
keep out the cold or hot air and they can be purchased in sizes
to fit perfectly behind curtains or drapes. If you do not need
new curtains or drapes, it is much more economical to buy a
liner.
These thermal curtain
panels can also keep out 100 percent of outside
light. They are made of an economical white polyester/cotton
blend fabric and are designed to work with your draperies or
curtains; there are 28 loops that attach easily with the
drapery hooks that are included. You can also hang them on a
separate rod if you desire for which they have a two-inch rod
pocket. The drapery liners, or insulated curtains , are also
washable which makes them even more economical.
